Torso eines Buddha. Rosafarbener Sandstein. Nordindien, Uttar Pradesh. Im Stil von Mathura und im Stil der 1. Hälfte des 5. Jh.
Stehend, in leichtem Kontrapost, das eng anliegende Obergewand ist hoch geschlossen und fällt in feinen Falten. Unterhalb des Bauchnabels sind in der Taille zwei dünne Wülste des Gürtels des Untergewandes zu erkennen. H 60 cm. Sockel.
Wohl Kopie nach der berühmten Buddha-Statue des Gupta-Bildhauers Dinna aus der 1. Hälfte des 5. Jahrhunderts, heute im Goverment Museum in Mathura, Inv.-Nr. A 5.
A Mathura style red sandstone figure of a standing Buddha in diaphanous drapery with rippling folds covering both shoulders. Mounted.
